9-10:30am (Registration available 8:30-9am)
In Florida, summer topping is used to stimulate vegetative growth of bearing southern highbush blueberries and should be done soon after harvest. With peaches, we remove vigorous branches that may divert growth away from the scaffold branches and excessive top growth. Participants will get hands-on experience with pruning peaches and blueberries during the summer season with UF Professor Dr. Mercy Olmstead, and extension agents Gary England and Prissy Fletcher. You can pay in advance at the Putnam County Extension Office in East Palatka, or wait and pay at the workshop, but please call ahead to register at 386-329-0318. Tickets also available online via Eventbrite (link is below).
Your $5 registration fee covers handouts, beverages and one ticket for a chance to win blueberry plants! Please bring your pruning shears and sunscreen!
