Putnam Blueways and Trails Nature Stroll in Welaka State Forest
Jim and Carol MacDonald are leading a nature hike in Welaka State Forest from the fire tower on CR 309 to John's Landing. The hike is 4.5 miles in distance through pine flatwoods and riverside hammock. There is a $2.00 user fee per person for day use in the Welaka State Forest. This fee may be paid at the honor box located at the trail head. We will hike out and back over different trails so it will be interesting. Depending on the (unusual) weather hats, bug repellent, and water are suggested. The fire tower is located 1 1/2 miles south of the traffic light in downtown Welaka on County Road 309.
